TBR Books has been open for two whole weeks, and we are thrilled at the response to our little shop from the local community. The Belleville News-Democrat even featured an article about us! Thank you so much for everyone’s support!

In case you were curious: the big lovely wooden sign outside of our store was made for us by Courage & Grace, and our logo was designed by Trisk Studios.

We had a great time at District Frights, the yearly October event in O’Fallon’s downtown district! We got dressed up and stayed open later, and we had great turnout. We still have a cauldron of candy left, so if you drop by, please take a piece of candy!

In this photo from District Frights night, Tracy is on the left, and Lena is on the right. We dressed in our very best 90’s witch vibes for the event!

If you haven’t met us yet, we would love to introduce ourselves! Lena is our owner: the brains and the brawn (and the decorating guru) behind TBR Books. She does all the things. The fantasy room is her favorite section of the store. Tracy is our manager. She also runs the website and makes the silly graphics you may have seen on Instagram or Facebook (or on this post). Sometimes, she has her dog Pixie with her at the shop. You can learn more about us here.

October is a busy month for readers, with new books coming out and old books beckoning us to read them again. If you’re like us, you love autumn! Whether you prefer your autumn books to be spooky or cozy, we have some reading suggestions for you! Click one of the banners below to be taken to some suggestions.

Cozy Autumn Reads

If none of the above suggestions seem interesting to you, that’s okay! We have lots of books in store, and if you’re looking for something specific that we don’t have, you can let us know, and we will order it for you as long as our vendor actually carries it.

Banned Books Week is also in October! It goes from October 5th – October 11th. In celebration, we have created an entire page for it on our website! Every day this week, we will feature a banned book of our choosing. Since the theme of this year’s Banned Books Week is ““Censorship Is So 1984 – Read for Your Rights,” we will obviously be starting with 1984. Click the banner below to read about Banned Books Week and our featured books!

Our website is still a work-in-progress, so please be patient with us as we add new pages. You can also follow us on Instagram or Facebook.

We look forward to seeing you in the store!
